SAN FRANCISCO — Taylor Rogers had a parting message Tuesday night after five minutes of answering reporters’ questions following his scoreless inning of work in the Giants’ 4-3 win over the Phillies, in which the bullpen took down 17 of the 27 outs.“It’s nice to talk you,” the left-handed reliever said. “When it’s not bad.”The last time Rogers met with a scrum of media, he had just tossed his glove in the trash. And for the first two weeks of this season, lots had gone wrong for Rogers, a $33 million free-agent pick up, culminating in a disastrous four-run, four-walk outing in a loss to the Dodgers on April 12 that prompted Rogers to find the nearest trash receptacle, a black bin in the corner of the third-base dugout. That was the last anyone saw of that particular black Rawlin...Three-bedroom home sells for $1.6 million in Los Gatos

The elections board in Georgia’s most populous county, a Democratic stronghold targeted by former President Donald Trump after his narrow 2020 loss in the state, will soon have new leadership. The Fulton County Board of Commissioners voted Wednesday to approve the selection of lawyer Patrise Perkins-Hooker to serve as chair of the county Registration and Elections Board. Her nomination — announced at the start of Wednesday’s commission meeting — came as a surprise to many since commission Chairman Robb Pitts had last week nominated former commissioner Lee Morris to fill the seat. The nomination of Morris, a Republican, would have shifted control of the the elections board from Democrats to Republicans in the heavily Democratic county, which includes most of Atlanta and is home to just over 1 million people. The county Democratic and Republican parties get two appointments apiece to round out the five-person board.Democrats and voting rights activists had raised alarms and ...Mark Gietzen, abortion foe who forced recount of Kansas vote, dies in plane crash at 69

He also worked in city government in posts promoting economic development and helping small businesses. At an election night party, Mobolade cast his victory as a win for those who are looking for something different in politics and those who have become disillusioned with the “great experiment” of the United States.“To anyone who d...Latest news
