SCHUYLERVILLE, N.Y. (NEWS10) - Hudson Crossing Park is hosting its annual fundraising banquet alongside the Champlain Canal this June. The Banquet by the Bridge dinner celebrates the community that supports and takes part in the park's educational programs. ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) - In a packed courtroom Friday morning, Jordan Young, the man accused of attempting to assault an officer last year, has plead guilty. Inside look at drug recognition expert school “He was basically forced to choose standing up for what he feels is right and his life,” said Albany Assistant Public Defender, Rebekah Sokol.In January of 2022, Young, who’s family and supporters say he suffers mental health issues and is diagnosed with schizophrenia, was shot in the stomach by an Albany police officer.Police say Young held a knife to his own dog and then he approached an officer with a knife. ALBANY, N.Y. (WTEN) -- New York is one four states without statutory protection for Native American burial sites, but new legislation could change that. Similar legislation passed in both houses last year, but was vetoed by the Governor. Hochul said the bill did not fairly balance the rights of property owners and families of native descendants. Reaction to Native American mascot ban "We’re trying to say, hold on, let’s just try to sort out whose bones these are and whether they need to be repatriated… if a developer or property owner discovers the remains on their land, that they have to go through a certain process and that’s what this law was all about," said Native activist, John Kane. AMSTERDAM, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The City of Amsterdam has announced they will be presenting the Spring Fling Festival. The event will be held from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on May 20. ST. LOUIS -- Two men were shot in a Downtown St. Louis parking garage Thursday evening. They escaped with their lives. An East St. Louis woman shot Wednesday was not so lucky.Two men were on the third floor of the parking garage located at North 10th Street and St. Charles Thursday when they were approached by a man. He fired shots at them, striking one man in the arm and the other man in a leg. The suspect then walked out of the parking garage, across Washington Avenue, and out of sight.Officers walking on patrol Thursday heard gunshots coming from the parking garage. The largest and busiest hospital in Los Angeles County is getting a new name and identity. Earlier this week, Los Angeles County+USC Medical Center officially unveiled its new name and brand: Los Angeles General Medical Center.The hospital had an official unveiling Wednesday with special guest speakers, including Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass and County Supervisor Hilda Solis, as well as hospital administrators and County Public Health officials.The new name and brand reflects the hospital's "active and intentional commitment to strengthen the trust between the medical center and the community of Los Angeles," officials said.The historic medical center is located east of downtown L.A. in Boyle Heights and has existed in the community in various forms since 1878.It's the largest hospital in Los Angeles County and the largest public hospital west of Texas, serving nearly 1 million patients every year.
