GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) — The Arizona Cardinals have been reasonably competent since quarterback Kyler Murray returned last month. They’ll need a lot more than competence when they host the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday. The NFC West-leading Niners have looked like the league’s best team during their current five-game winning streak. San Francisco clinched its third straight playoff berth last week and can clinch its first division title since 2019 with a win this weekend.“When you watch the tape, all three phases jump out to you,” first-year Cardinals coach Jonathan Gannon said. “They’ve got good players, they’re well coached and they win games so that’s what everybody in the NFL is trying to do.”Aside from a midseason three-week swoon when some key players were hurt, San Francisco has delivered. Its current streak includes victories over Jacksonville, Tampa Bay, Seattle, Philadelphia and Seattle again. All of those teams are still in the playoff hunt. The Cardinals hav...

Johnston: Homeless hotels a long-term investment for taxpayers

Published Sun, 23 Feb 2025 23:03:38 GMT

DENVER (KDVR) — Denver Mayor Mike Johnston is hopeful the city can reach his goal of housing 1,000 people by the end of the year. But he's already looking ahead to 2024, saying the goal will reset once it's hit.Johnston shared his thoughts on this issue on "Colorado Point of View" this week."If we get to 999, it doesn't mean we lose. If we get to 1,001, it doesn't mean we win. There'll still be folks that are homeless after Dec. 31, but what we hope we do is we set a real path for what's possible."A big part of the mayor’s so-called House1000 initiative is transitional housing, like hotels and micro-communities. Johnston said no one has gone back to the streets after entering the transitional housing."We're working to be much faster and more efficient at connecting them to that (permanent) housing," Johnston said.Denver micro-community under construction at 2301 S.
